This page will describe my work with a new transmitter purchased on Ebay. The unit was advertised as a 75mw unit that could accept audio and video, and included a transmitter, receiver and two whip antenna's. The system is manufactured by Racewood Technology. |

| First things first:
It took almost two weeks to get my package from the seller, which I think
is due mostly to the fact it was coming from Canda, and our mail system
hasn't been it's self lately.
Upon opening the box I found that the unit was well packaged in lots of shredded paper. Removing everything from the box I quickly began scanning the manual to figure out how to get everything hooked up... only to discover that the manual appeared to be for an entirely different transmitter! Fortunately it came with plug and play cables, so figuring out which wires went where was not a problem. Details of the stock system are shown below, but rest assured, it did not remain stock for long! You can view my hack log starting here. |

| Here is a comparison between the unit I bought and the Xcam2. It turned out to be a bit larger than I expected, being very close in size to the xcam2 transmitter, but obviously much better protected. The included antenna is a dipole and seems very well made. | ![]() |
| This shows the antenna unscrewed from the transmitter. At some point I will probably attach my groundplane antenna to the transmitter using SMA connectors. | ![]() |
| Here is everything hacked together, ready for flight. It aint' pretty, but it will hold together in the air. | ![]() |
| This is my testbed... a Multiplex PicoCub fitted with a 2.5:1 gearbox and 9x6 prop on a speed 400 motor. The transmitter is mounted at the back of the wing, with the antenna placed such that I can test it in a horizontal and vertical position (hanging over the side of the airplane). The 4cell pack is on the nose of the plane, and the dc-dc converter is just behind that. | |
| Couldn't resist this one... a friend snapped this picture at one of my launches. |
